The Controlled Climb Ladder: Build Stamina One Rung at a Time
Most training is vague: “try to last longer.”
The Controlled Climb Ladder makes the process measurable and progressive, exactly like adding weight in the gym.
The Ladder Drill
Work in clear arousal steps:
- Climb deliberately to 5, hold 10–15 seconds of steady stimulation, then ease off slightly.
- Climb to 6, hold again.
- Climb to 7, hold.
- Only after clean holds at each rung do you decide whether to continue higher or finish.
Each “rung” is a controlled pause at a defined intensity. You do not skip levels.
Why the Ladder Works
It removes the all-or-nothing pattern. Instead of coasting until panic and then slamming the brakes, you practice owning every stage of the climb. This builds both awareness and the ability to stabilize at higher levels.
Coaching Cues
- Name the number out loud or in your head as you reach it. Precision matters.
- The hold is the working set. Stay calm and breathe while you maintain that level.
- If you overshoot and nearly lose it, drop back two rungs and rebuild. Clean reps only.
- Two to three full ladders per session is enough.
Progression
Week 1–2: Master clean holds at 5, 6, and 7.
Week 3+: Extend hold times or add an 8th rung once 7 feels stable.
Track how steady you remain at each level. When the holds become easy, you have adapted. That is the same signal as adding load on a lift.
Run the ladder with focus. Control is built by owning the climb, not by surviving it.
