Are You Measuring Your Dick Wrong? Hereās the Correct Method
A lot of men are walking around with the wrong idea about their size. Not because their penis is unusually small or large ā but because they measured it the wrong way.
Looking down from above, measuring while soft, or failing to press all the way to the pubic bone can easily take off half an inch or more. That gap is enough to make someone feel inadequate when they are actually average or above.
Hereās how to do it correctly.
Common Mistakes That Give You the Wrong Number
- Measuring from above while looking down (foreshortening makes it look shorter)
- Not pressing the ruler firmly against the pubic bone
- Measuring while only partially hard
- Using a soft measuring tape incorrectly or measuring the top side inconsistently
- Checking right after a shower or in a cold room when everything is temporarily smaller
These errors are extremely common.
The Correct Way to Measure Length
- Get fully erect.
- Stand upright or lie on your back.
- Take a rigid ruler (not a soft tape for length).
- Place the end of the ruler against the pubic bone at the base of the penis, on the top side.
- Press firmly until you feel the bone. This is the ābone-pressedā measurement ā the only one that is consistent and comparable.
- Measure straight to the tip of the glans (do not press into the tip).
Record the number. This is your true erect length.

How to Measure Girth (Thickness)
- Stay fully erect.
- Use a soft measuring tape or a strip of paper.
- Wrap it around the thickest part of the shaft (usually mid-shaft).
- Note the circumference.
Some men also measure just below the glans for a second reference point.
Extra Tips for Accuracy
- Measure at the same time of day when possible
- Make sure the room isnāt cold
- Take two or three measurements and average them
- Donāt flex or pull the penis to make it longer ā keep it natural
Why Measuring Correctly Matters
Once you have an accurate baseline, you can track real changes over time if you work on erection quality, fat loss around the pubic area, or other factors that affect visible size. Guessing or using bad measurements only creates unnecessary stress.
Do This Today
Get a rigid ruler and a soft tape. Get fully hard. Measure bone-pressed length and mid-shaft girth. Write the numbers down.
Thatās it. You now have a real reference point instead of a distorted one.

Most men who measure the right way discover they are closer to average (or better) than they thought. The first step to feeling better about your size is simply knowing the actual number.
