Squeeze Method for Premature Ejaculation: Step-by-Step Guide

Aug 7, 2026 ·

The squeeze method is one of the oldest and most studied behavioral techniques for improving ejaculatory control. It is simple, requires no tools, and can be practiced alone or with a partner.

When done correctly, it interrupts the ejaculation reflex just before the point of no return, giving you a second chance to continue.

What the Squeeze Method Is

When you feel yourself getting very close to orgasm, you (or your partner) apply firm pressure to a specific point just below the head of the penis. This pressure temporarily reduces arousal and can prevent ejaculation from happening.

It is not the same as the stop-start method. Stop-start relies on completely stopping stimulation. The squeeze actively uses pressure to lower the intensity.

Why It Works

The area just behind the glans is highly sensitive and closely linked to the ejaculatory reflex. Firm, correctly placed pressure can dampen the signal that triggers orgasm, buying you time for the urge to subside.

How to Do the Squeeze Method – Solo Practice

  1. Stimulate yourself until you reach a high level of arousal (about 7–8 out of 10), just before the point of no return.
  2. Stop stimulation.
  3. Place your thumb on the underside of the penis, right where the head meets the shaft, and your index and middle fingers on the opposite side.
  4. Squeeze firmly for 10–20 seconds. The pressure should be strong enough to noticeably reduce the urge, but not painful.
  5. Release the pressure and wait another 15–30 seconds until the intense urge has clearly dropped.
  6. Resume stimulation.
  7. Repeat the squeeze 3–5 times before allowing yourself to finish.

Practice this 3–4 times per week.

How to Use It with a Partner

Communication is essential.

  • Tell your partner in advance that you may ask them to squeeze when you get close.
  • When you feel the urge rising strongly, signal them.
  • They should use the same finger position: thumb on the underside, fingers on top, just below the glans.
  • Squeeze firmly for 10–20 seconds, then release and pause briefly before continuing.

Many couples find this easier than full stop-start because it keeps physical contact.

Common Mistakes

  • Squeezing too softly (no real effect)
  • Squeezing too hard or in the wrong place (can cause discomfort)
  • Waiting until you have already passed the point of no return
  • Using the squeeze as a panic button every single time instead of combining it with better awareness and breathing

Combining with Stop-Start

The two methods work well together. You can use stop-start for most of the session and switch to the squeeze when the urge feels especially strong or when you want to stay inside without fully withdrawing.

What to Expect

With consistent practice, most men notice better control within 2–4 weeks. The goal is not to rely on the squeeze forever, but to use it as a training tool while your overall awareness and control improve.

Start with solo sessions so you can learn the exact pressure and timing without any pressure from a partner.

Master the squeeze, and you gain one of the most direct physical tools available for lasting longer.
